Floating roof oil sump design

Floating roof oil sump design

Floating roof oil sump design

(OP)
Our Waste water equalization tanks floating roof design has a round sump 3 ft Diameter x 2 ft Height. It has 19 vertical slots 6 inches long x 1 inch wide. The problem that we have is that these slots get clogged up with trash thus interrupting the continuous oil removal operation. I'm looking for best practices information, suggestion or tips on how to improve the sump design to prevent or avoid the problem of clogging estated above. Thanks for your prompt response. Airbus

RE: Floating roof oil sump design

I can't exactly visualize your whole set up, but would it be possible to put a ring of hardware cloth several feet outside that sump to intercept trash?  You'd still have to clean it out, just less often.
