Does anyone know why the output resultant forces at midside nodes would be much lower than those at the corner nodes when applying a smooth displacement condition along a model boundary?

I'm modelling the stresses produced by a soft tissue deformation. I don't have an accurate picture of the forces producing the deformation so I have extracted the displacements produced by the force along the boundary on which it acts. When I solve for this boundary condition and look at the forces it produces along the boundary I would have expected a continuous variation. If you look at just the midside nodes or the corner nodes it is continuous however when you look at both together the forces at the midside nodes are considerably less.

The model is 2D plane strain and I'm using plane 183 elements with pure displacement.
