"Hide" command missing from RMB menu in large assembly

"Hide" command missing from RMB menu in large assembly

"Hide" command missing from RMB menu in large assembly

(OP)
I am working with a fairly large assembly, and when I click on a part either in the feature tree or in the model, my "Hide" option is unavailable.  I tried "customize" in the RMB menu to see if it had been turned off, but it still wasn't there.

When I open a subassembly, my hide option returns to my RMB menu.

I am able to hide parts by selecting them and clicking Edit->Hide->All Display States, but this takes a lot more time than I would like.

Any ideas?

Maybe try exploding the subassembly that you're having difficulty with?

I have trouble with all parts and subassemblies.

RE: "Hide" command missing from RMB menu in large assembly

Are you in "Large Assembly Mode"? Is your Assembly "Set to Lightweight"? Because this is usually when I have issues hiding anything.

I was in large assembly mode and set to lightweight.  I turned large assembly mode off, resolved all components, shut down solidworks, and had the same problem when I reopened Solidworks.

Try raising the threshold of the Large Assy option.

RE: "Hide" command missing from RMB menu in large assembly

Go to Tools\Large assembly mode and make sure that the Large assembly mode is not pushed in. If it is push it and Large assembly mode will be turned off. THis happens alot and is easily overlooked.

Turning large assembly mode off does not fix the problem.

Thanks for the ideas, though.

RE: "Hide" command missing from RMB menu in large assembly

If you can open all the sub-assys & parts, and the Hide command is not hidden, then it makes sense that it is a Large Assy setting problem.

Does the hide appear now?

Once you close and re-open the file (or SolidWorks), the Large Assembly mode will be re-activated unless you change your SW Settings.

No, that doesn't make it appear.

I tried an old version of the assembly and hide works just fine.  Something weird happened.

I think what you need to do is just reset your Toolbars completely. See Alternative reinstall in the FAQ of this forum. That will tell you what you will need to do.

Apparently this only happens in one configuration of one assembly.  When I switched to a different config the hide option reappeared.
