Involute Curve

Involute Curve

(OP)
Generating an involute curve in Catia V5R15. I'm wondering how accurate the curve generated by the law command is compared with one generated by data points and a spline. Will this be a severe improvement to the 3-D model compared to the actual part from the tool maker and PM plant?

RE: Involute Curve

"depends", right, on the resolution of your data points?

So how do you up the resolution in catia. We have been trying to compare profiles of different involutes over top of another and the only way that I can come up with is to remove one solid created from that involute from another to catch the little differences between them. If you simply just do a top view, they are very ruff. Any help?

RE: Involute Curve

Change your display resolution.  TOOLS, OPTIONS, GENERAL, DISPLAY, PERFORMANCES.  Set it to as small as you can, and that should tweak the curve display to see them better.

RE: Involute Curve

If you have FSS license you can use Distance Analysis tools, also a Porcupine analysis can help you find which curve is better for you.
