DISPLAY STATE - UNDOCUMENTED FEATURE?

DISPLAY STATE - UNDOCUMENTED FEATURE?

This is so unbelievable - I had to make a video. In case you got no speakers - missing the commentary - here's the dang deal:
I set up display states in this assembly & select it in one view - then 3 seconds later... TADA.

What's going on here?

RE: DISPLAY STATE - UNDOCUMENTED FEATURE?

Would you call it like this?

"Parts in a subassembly are not shown when we use Show->All Display states."

Your AVI file is very hard to see since you used a camera so I can't tell what you are picking on.

Anyways, this issue is fixed in SW07

I set up DISPLAY STATE in this assembly & then select that display state in the drawing view. Then 3 seconds later, the display reverts back to wireframe - although the VIEW PROPERTIES still indicate the previously selected DISPLAY STATE.

RE: DISPLAY STATE - UNDOCUMENTED FEATURE?

Found this:

Question:
Why are sub-assembly display states ignored in a top level assembly?  For example, a sub-assembly has components that are hidden in the display state depending on the configuration used, yet all components are displayed in the tope level assembly.

Answer:
When component display states are changed in the top level assembly and override is created and this override must be removed in order to display the components in the top level assembly as they are in the sub-assembly display states.  To remove the override do the following:
1.     Open the assembly
2.     Expand the display pane (click the double-right arrow at the top of the FM)
3.     Right-click in the display pane in the sub-assembly line
4.     Select Clear override
5.     This will reset the subassembly display state back.

There is a lot of information in that KBA at SW. However ify ou don't find what you want, turn htei ssue in SW or your VAR will find an answer for you fast.

RE: DISPLAY STATE - UNDOCUMENTED FEATURE?

At first I had the view set to wireframe & then used the display state to shade certain parts... that was unstable.

Now I flipped my strategy & have the view set to shaded with edges & then set the display state to show most of the parts wireframe - hidden lines removed. THIS SEEMS TO BE STABLE. So the problem may be solved - but shouldn't it work the other way too?
