Moving Dimensions

Moving Dimensions

(OP)
Is there some to turn on a dimension when moving it? Everytime I move the dimension it turns into a box and it's pretty hard to manually algin with another dimension.

Thanks,

RE: Moving Dimensions

Have you tried to use the align command?

Highlight all dimensions you would like to align and right click. The align comand has about 6 options for you to chose from.

boottmills,
Yeah, I tried that and also works. It's a pain when you want to do a simple align manually. You see, I have this calibrated eyeball and........LOL!

I was just wondering if there was a checkbox under options I'm missing.

Thank you sir for your feedback,

RE: Moving Dimensions

Hi Colin.
Is the box only around the number, or including the dim lines?
If including the lines, I have never seen that before.
If just the number, you need to align using the dim line either with snap or the alignment tool.

RE: Moving Dimensions

Even with the boxes around the dimension, you should see a yellow line which indicates alignment with another feature. It is usually sufficient for aligning dimensions "by eye" ... calibrated or not. wink

RE: Moving Dimensions

CBL is right...Just don't have too many dimensions in close vacinity...or it will try to align to each one.

Don't we all have a "calibrated eyeball?" 3eyes

RE: Moving Dimensions

Try:
CTRL+Pick dimensions, then Tools > Dimensions > Align Collinear/Radial.  I dragged that button to my dimension toolbar because I use it often.
