Moving from configurations to 1model/file

Moving from configurations to 1model/file

Moving from configurations to 1model/file

(OP)
We are thinking of taking PDMWorks into use. The problem is that we are using configurations (with individual partnumbers) and PDMW has revision control for files only. We are already creating our new models and assemblies without configurations but they still exist in the older files. I’m just exploring the possibility of getting rid of configurations (moving them into separate files) when moving files into the vault. Has anyone got experience of this and is it worth the trouble?

RE: Moving from configurations to 1model/file

This may be uncommon practice compared to what others here are doing, but we do not use the SW revisions.  Sometimes we make minor changes to a part not requiring a revision, such as adding a plane for reference purposes, and PDMWorks wants to change the revision for any changes made.

We have a revision block on our title block, and we just fill in the revision information if required.  Every single one of our properties are configuration-specific, and we do have a property for revision letter.  Our title-block has a property for the revision letter, but we fill in the other properties manually.
