Hi,
I'd like to know raw material and heat treatment specs of hydraulic cylinder rod for 5000 psi excavator application a.s.a.p. Thanks in advance.

RE: Raw material and heat treatment specs of hydraulic cylinder rod

Have you consulted with a manufacturer of 5000 psi excavator hydraulic cylinder rods?  Perhaps they would give you some information, unless you are a competitor trying to reverse engineer their product, in which case they are probably glad that you are asking the question to all of us here at Eng-Tips.

I don't think that there is a singular answer to that question.

I suspect you need the manufacturer or a metallurgist.  I can't imagine anyone being able to accurately answer that question unless they've analyzed a specimen from the rod, but if you are in the US, contact Dr. Kendall Clarke, Metallurgical Consulting, 251-639-3433.
