Mate Errors

Mate Errors

Mate Errors

(OP)
So I'm assembling simple wood crates with 2x4s and 1x4s and if I do more than 3 mates in a row I get the error that the mates are overdefined or over constrained.  It will effect up 9 different mates from this and if I delete 1 it will usually fix the next two and leave the next ones still in error mode.  However if I delete any of them then undo the delete they're all fixed.  It's a real easy fix but it's a pain to have to do one mate at a time.  The parts are very simple and I doubt even I could have put some sort of glitch into the parts.  Any help would be apreciated.

Hey thanks a lot.  Now I can tell my boss that SW actually does have a bug and it's not me messing things up.

RE: Mate Errors

This jives with whatI've told my students for a few semesters now.... Don't use a mate with more "muscle" than you need. Or... Don't overuse mates. You'll get away eith it for a while, but then one day your big assembly will krap-out & you won't be able to figure out why very easily.

RE: Mate Errors

The trouble with using edges & faces though is that their IDs can change and you end up with broken mates anyway.

cheers

RE: Mate Errors

But if the faces & edges change - due to typical design changes... I would want to re-visit my assembly mates anyway. So I have no "problem" with this as many others do.
