Will the downloaded version of 2007 be upgradable when the next service pack comes out?

RE: Upgrading 2007 Download version

Quote (SW Portal):

If you installed SolidWorks (SP0) with a web download, you need to update the installation with the CD (SP0) before you can apply a service pack.

By update do you mean reinstall or is this like applying a service pack?

RE: Upgrading 2007 Download version

I'm not sure, I've never had to do it. The quote was taken directly from the SW Portal download sectin (bottom of page 2).

I would interpret the statement literally, meaning an update rather than a re-install ... so yes, "like applying a service pack".

RE: Upgrading 2007 Download version

I have always taken it to mean that you'll need to re-install from CD but in reading that fragment "you need to update the installation" I am not sure.  Perhaps they ARE saying that you can just plug in your CDs and perform an update.  I will try and poke around on SolidWorks website to see if there's more info.

RE: Upgrading 2007 Download version

I have had nothing but trouble when downloading upgrades in the past, except for SP's. I wait for the CD's to upgrade.

RE: Upgrading 2007 Download version

No what that means is you put hte CD SP0.0 into the CD-ROM and install it like you do form the CD, but all it really does it shows the installer that you used the CD instead.

RE: Upgrading 2007 Download version

Yes it should, because that's all I ever use anymore to avoid using the Disks. you should just have to point the disks to the admin image, but it does not take the place of the admin image. it just updates the admin image to the CD version of SP0.0 and you should be good.
