Different rebar properties

Different rebar properties

Different rebar properties

(OP)
Hi!
I have different rebars types: also different geometric caracteristics and different material caracteristics. How do I model them in SAP2000 and how do I use them as reinforcing in structural members?
Ex.: 2 deformed rebars: D4 and D5.
D4->diameter=0.225 in and
D5->diameter=0.252 in. This is easy to model in SAP2000 from Options->preferences->reinf. bar sizes
Also:
D4->fy=68 ksi and
D5->fy=38 ksi. How ca I introduce this parameter (fy=yielding strength) in the column/beam definition?

RE: Different rebar properties

On define-> materiales and select the material you want to add/change

For fy=68ksi you can chnge the "steel" "Minimum yield stress fy" for 68ksi then click ok and add a new material with the same caracteristics of the steel but with fy 38.

After everything is done go to "define->frame sections" and there find "add circle" put the diameter of the D4 and select in material the steel for D4 and for D5 do the same

Thanks. It has been helpfull.

I also made another simplification: I chose to define different materials (ex. BEAM) wtih "Design type=Concrete" and "Design property data:
-bending reinf. yeld stress= 68 ksi (like D4 rebar)
-shear reinf. stress= 56 ksi (like rebar type 11 ga.)"
And now I can define new "BEAM" section with material BEAM and D4 reinforcement (as geometric characteristic= diameter, area defined in Options-preferences-reinforcement bar sizes).
