Is Carbon Steel material can be used for Sieve trays used in Extractor Vessel (LPG Service) ?? If yes what ASTM materail should be used . The tray support plates are CS , welded with CS vessel and trays will be bolted to the support paltes

Thankyou and Regards

RE: Tray Material !!

The Carbon Steel plate is fine, any boiler plate is suitable down to - 29 deg C without impact test. Since the trays are bolted to the supports, a structural calculation is the only thing you need. However, you probably buy those trays from Sulzer or some other place, let them worry about the suitability of the tray material to your process.
Also, ask your local rep of any tray supplier to send you a proper spec for the trays, they usually have free sets of comprehensive specs.

Cheers,
