residual stresses after welding

residual stresses after welding

residual stresses after welding

(OP)
Hi,
i need to model & compute residual stresses after laser welding of two steel plates, using ABAQUS. To start simple, I'v started off with "coupled temp-disp. analysis" for a statically indeterminate beam, having a uniform surface heat-flux.

I got stresses and temp data too, but now i dont know HOW TO COOL THAT SURFACE to get the residual stresses.

I found in the docs. the (interaction module)film-coefficient, does this job. but where can i find that data? and how can i check the correctness of the residual-stress-output afterwards?

Please help.... i am struggling with this issue since past 2 weeks.

Thanks and regards

RE: residual stresses after welding

anshUS,
Have you resolved this, or do you still need some assistance?

i can cool it down now, but the history request output of temp. Vs time, doesnt give me smooth curve. I am playing with the increments etc to see if i can get a smooth curve of temp. going up till 2000degC and coming back to zero. If you know the whole procedure, as to how to get that curve.. plz let me know... it'll save me a lot of precious time.

thanks a lot for your concern!
