Vault Error 40 Help

Vault Error 40 Help

Vault Error 40 Help

(OP)
I came in this morning and it looked like my system was shut down automatically by my APS last night due to a power outage. I rebooted and then logged into PDM Vault Admin to make some changes and I get "Vault Error 40 could not update vault status"
What does this mean? and how can I fix it?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks Tom

RE: Vault Error 40 Help

(OP)
I found out what was happening, I made a syntax error to my Revision scheme which the system didn't like. But I didn't realize it until I tried to check in a document and it reported a syntax error in the revision table. Funny that the Vault reported error 40 and said it would not apply the change, but in fact it did apply the change. The next time I opened up Vault admin my syntax error was there....Anyway, Its fixed
Thanks

RE: Vault Error 40 Help

I get a vault 40 error when I try to do a report on a project that contains 6800 files.  I am the only computer that I get this on at my company.  Other computers in the department and company don't have this problem.  I have been through the ringer with my reseller trying to figure it out.  I've just chalked it up to network issues.  This is what the PDMWorks vault debug guide says error 40 is....

"PDMW_ERROR_NETWORK_UNKNOWN "

Anyone else have some experience with this?

Pete

RE: Vault Error 40 Help

Vault error 40 is rather nebulous, in my experience.  When I have encountered it, it was almost always because of a software bug; it had nothing to do with the network.  In your case, it's probably not a software bug, since you can't recreate the problem situation on other computers.

I would try doing a repair on your SolidWorks/PDMWorks installation.  Also, see if you get the same error on the integrated client versus the stand-alone client of PDMW.  If you suspect a network issue, see if you can ping the PDMW file server.

tried all those - been there done that....
