which ASME PTC applies for air-cooled condenser

which ASME PTC applies for air-cooled condenser

which ASME PTC applies for air-cooled condenser

(OP)
fellow gearheads,

which asme ptc applies for air-cooled condensors (ACC)?

- PTC-30 Air Cooled Heat Exchangers or
- PTC-12.2 Steam Surface Condensors

i hastily read through the Object paragraph of PTC-30 at site (do not have copy currently in hand) and did not notice any reference to air-cooled condensors.  a search via google and i noted that there is development of a PTC for ACC.  i've not been able to locate one, so i suppose ptc-30 is the appropriate test code?

please advise - Thanks!

RE: which ASME PTC applies for air-cooled condenser

pmover,

Steam surface condensers condense steam from a steam turbine exhaust and exchange it to a liquid (typically water)

Your condenser, is probably fin-tubed has large fans and condenses steam and rejects heat to the air (they don't work very well in the summer time...)

Good background document:

I suggest that you talk with one of the major vendor's about performance testing and the applicability of the ASME Performance Test Codes..

-My opinion only
