Corrosion resistance of nitride steel treatments

Corrosion resistance of nitride steel treatments

Corrosion resistance of nitride steel treatments

(OP)
How does the corrosion resistance of a nitrided 1010 steel part compare to e-coating, dacromet, zinc plating, etc... the same part?

Is there a standard or article out there that compares surface treatments that would include nitriding?

RE: Corrosion resistance of nitride steel treatments

If you just want corrosion protection, any of the coatings you cited will be more cost effective than nitriding. But if you also need wear resistance, salt bath nitriding with the supplemental black oxide (Kolene QPQ process) is worth a look.
