Cut and Paste BOM

Cut and Paste BOM

Cut and Paste BOM

(OP)
Boy am I frustrated this morning.

I am trying to cut and paste a bom from one sheet to another sheet, and I can not seem to get it to work. Any ideas.

RE: Cut and Paste BOM

Highlight the BOM, click Edit Cut, Click over to the new sheet, Click Directly on the sheet, Select Edit paste.

Or drag the BOM from one sheet to another (drag from active to inactive sheet)

Thanks Scott.

for the last 2 hours, i've been trying to highlight the bom, and follow the above procedure. Each time, it tells me that "I can't paste the item on the clipboard"

Also, please explain to me how I "drag and drop" the BOM, because I can not do this.

(by the way, there are 114 items in the bom).

RE: Cut and Paste BOM

I have not been able to do this with SW06-SP4.1

The new style BOM is much more clunky to move around than it used to be. The blue bar at the top no longer appears for allowing selection of the whole BOM.

Cory,

If that is the case, how are we supposed to split bom's and have them run over multiple pages?

Still, I can't seem to cut/paste or drag/drop - and i'm beginning to feel like the definition of insanity (doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result).

RE: Cut and Paste BOM

It must a bug in SW06 SP4.1, but in SW07 you can cut it and paste it like I said... You should be able to cut it and paste it though.

RE: Cut and Paste BOM

AHAH ... if you select the top left cell-reference box, the whole BOM becomes highlighted, then cut-n-paste and drag-n-drop can be done.

You may have to zoom in to see that the box has a pair of crossed arrows indicating that movement is allowed.

RE: Cut and Paste BOM

I can't copy it either.
Curious, why do you need to copy it? You should have it as a template. Go to the next page and add a BOM. You will need to edit it anyway if you copy or add it.

Chris,

Cut, not copy.. In order to have the bom run over multiple pages, it must be "CUT" from one page, and pasted into another (after spliting).

RE: Cut and Paste BOM

oops, sorry. Thought you wanted it to run over to next page from 1st page and copy it.morning
I like inserting an Excel BOM over the SW BOM. It's easier to manage.
