Hysys multiphase flow

Hysys multiphase flow

Hysys multiphase flow

(OP)
Guys,

How to input multiphase flows (i.e.) oil rate 5000 bbl/d & gas rate 5 mmscf/d in the stream line.

Thanks & Regards,
oilgas80

RE: Hysys multiphase flow

you need to have the composition of combined fluids then when you enter molar flow it will calculate the gas and crude flows. This is not always convenientbecause the overall well composition given often doesnt give you the actual design flowrates asked for, so what we usually end up doing is entering composition from design basis for the wells and using a adjust function to add an inert gas (i.e. one that wont effect flash calcs such as methane) to get gas and crude rates to match the design basis. You first adjust total well fluids untill you have the correct crude rate after processing then add methane to get correct gas rate.

RE: Hysys multiphase flow

another way to achieve the desire result is to create seperate stream for the oil and gas. input the compositions for each stream but at the same temperature and pressure.

input the flowrate for the oil and specify a molar flowrate on the gas stream till it gives you the desired gas flowrate in MMSCFD.

then, combine the two streams using a mixer. HYSYS will recognize the output flowrate as the reservoir flow rate.

RE: Hysys multiphase flow

maybe i see your problem:

You have a specified composition from the reservoir ppl - and a specified flow rate of oil&gas - but the flow rates does not match the calculated flow rates by hysys - you cant get them both to match - if the oil rate matches then the gas rate is off and vise versa.

There are two solutions:

1) Either annonce that you will match the oil rate (or gas rate whatever your preference) and the gas rate will be off

or

2) If gas is less than expected then make a gas stream with a composition that matches the gas phase from a 1 stage split at standard conditions of your reservoir fluid and mix it with the reservoir fluid and use an adjust until you get your desired flow rates - if oil is less then use the oil stream.

Rememeber to raise the issue with the reservoir ppl and inform them of your approach - so that confusion dont arise later on.

Best regards

Morten

Hi,

I have to follow the standards for producing my specifications for the Process Piping.

I was confused, whether,i have to follow,

1.ANSI B31.3 or
2.ASME B31.3

Please clarify my query.

Thanks & Regards,
Kumar

This belongs in a new tread (and in a different forum. Try to repost in a mechanical engineering forum.

Best regards
