Blast joint required for CS flowline?

Blast joint required for CS flowline?

Blast joint required for CS flowline?

(OP)
Hi all,

I have seen blast joints installed (Stainless steel, 4 feet length)on carbon steel flowline at downstrem of choke valve connecting X'mas tree. But now I naver seen it on new offshore platform.I know it installed to resist erosion caused by 3 phase flow at outlet of choke. However now I try to search website about blast joint, mostly it is recommended to install at tube casing upstream X'mas tree only.

Anybody tell me the requirement of blast joint? Is it still rquired at downstream of choke valve?

Thank you very much everybody.
