Flotation - rock anchors
Flotation - rock anchors
(OP)
For buried structures, reservoirs, tanks and pump chambers below potential water table we have resisted uplift from flotation by adding Wight (thick floor slabs). For a new project with structures founded on weathered limestone proposal is to use rock anchors. What are relative benefits and costs of rock anchors over gravity?

RE: Flotation - rock anchors
However, I'd make sure I used an experienced "anchor" contractor.
I saw a case where someone "grouted in" reinforcing bars as a way to resist uplift for a corner high voltage transmission tower.
It blew over at 45 mph, pulling the rods out of the hard dolomite rock. It appeared as bond failure.
Are there other "anchor" methods considered, such as earth fill alongside?
