Min Clearance between 12" CI clasee 22 water main and storm sewer

Min Clearance between 12" CI clasee 22 water main and storm sewer

Min Clearance between 12" CI clasee 22 water main and storm sewer

(OP)
the perils of storm sewer design in the urban setting:

Whats the absolute minimum clearance between an existing 12" Cast Iron Class 22 water main and storm sewer. The storm sewer will most likely be a 48" inner diameter corrugated plastic pipe. I can get about 6" clear, can I encase the water main or should I encase the storm sewer?
or do I have to reloc the main?

(Btw the diameter specified for the CI pipe is the nominal Inisde Diameter or is the Outside Diameter?

RE: Min Clearance between 12" CI clasee 22 water main and storm sewer

Check your state's DNR requirements for water and sewer.

RE: Min Clearance between 12" CI clasee 22 water main and storm sewer

It is not a major problem to lower the water main. the owner should be able to handle it and charge the owner of the storm drain. BTW, what is class 22 CI?

RE: Min Clearance between 12" CI clasee 22 water main and storm sewer

I believe this is a reference to a specific nominal thickness class of gray cast iron pipe formerly produced e.g. to standards ANSI/AWWA C106/A21.6 and C108/A21.8 (see pg 12-5 Historical... information at http://www.acipco.com/adip/products/Sect12.pdf).
I think there have been numerous past discussions on these forums concerning requirements per differernt authorities/areas for similar crossings, so you may wish to search the archives using keywords.
