Bond Beam Spacing

Bond Beam Spacing

Bond Beam Spacing

(OP)
Does anyone know where to find the min interval spacing for bond beams in CMU blocks?  Any help would be appreciated.

(I have a feeling it is in the masonry code--but where??)

RE: Bond Beam Spacing

There is no minimum that I know of for running bond.  For stacked bond, see ACI 530 (02) section 1.11.

RE: Bond Beam Spacing

It depends on what Seismic Design Category you are in.  For D and above the code required .002bh with maximum reinforcing spacing not to exceed 48" ea. direction.  See 1.13.6

RE: Bond Beam Spacing

Someone designing in Florida here can verify this but I believe there is a 10ft spacing limit for South Florida. And like STR04 was saying that for SDC D and worse I have often seen bond beams placed at 4ft to satisfy the minimum horizontal requirement.

When things are steep, remember to stay level-headed.
