Screw threads cut not working

Screw threads cut not working

Screw threads cut not working

(OP)
Howdie.
I have a problem with a particular model and wondered if anyone else has had this come up.
I have a set of screw threads in an existing file.  When I try to import these threads into another file as a cut, only the core cylinder of the import actually cuts, not the threads.

I have tried different methods:
1.  Insert > Shared Data > CopyGeom, then I go into Legacy mode to cut using quilt.  Only the core cylinder actually cuts.  I also get the message, "WARNING: Design intent is unclear.  Use "Info"/"Geom Check" menu for details."  So I do the Geom Check dance, and get the message, "The system could not construct the intersection of the part and feature.  Recommended actions:  Redefine the feature so that it intersects the part."  The problem here is, I could spend literally hours trying out different methods to fix the threads to no avail. And, the threads are heavily dependent on Relations, since I use a default thread that gets modified to the specs I need for a particular job. Is there another quick solution to this dilemma?

The other method I try is:
2.  In legacy mode, Feature > Create > Cut > Advanced, and I use the "From File" method.  Since only iBL, IGES and VDA are allowed as imports, I try each (having exported these file types earlier).  What I get instead is a message stating:
"Line 1: Can not identify keyword", and the operation fails.

Thanks for any advice you can offer,

Found it, after playing with it for a couple of hours.
I lowered the relative accuracy of the threads file, and then tried the Copy Geom / Legacy Cut thing again, and bingo, it finally worked!
There is a moral to this story.  Once, someone said that if you can't find something, blame it on someone and you'll find it where you put it last, in a couple of minutes.  This also applies to ProE and forums; don't waste the time spending days trying to figure something out.  Just post a question on a forum, and you'll find the answer yourself within a couple of hours.  That's an efficiency gain of approximately 12.

Forgot to mention that in addition, The screw threads modeling had to be changed from Helical Sweep-Normal to Traj, to Helical Sweep-Thru Axis.  But definitely, that plus changing the relative accuracy were both required.
