peer variables

When linking variables between peer parts in an assembly do you have to create a holding variable for the "linked from" part in the "linked to" part first and then use this to drive another variable?  Or can you past the link into the "linked to" parts formula cell and edit the formula?

Example:  Post height of part A is 2" more that height of part B.

RE: peer variables

Yes I have to paste the peer variables into a holding variable.

Example: Variable "REF_1" is the one with the peer variable paste into it. Then the variable "long" will be "(REF_1*2)" or anything I need it to be.

It's not only for assembly but for any peer variables you can't edit the cell with the full link inside of it or it will cause an error.

Thanks,

That was my feeling but sometimes I miss the obvious.
