recharging the system after test

recharging the system after test

(OP)
How is a system recharged after the test is completed? Is the jockey pump the only way to recharge or are they (jockey pump) only used to maintain pressure? Can the main diesel or electric pump be tripped without fear of damage to the pumps to recharge the systyem?

RE: recharging the system after test

There is no reason why the main pumps can not be used to fill the system. The jockey pumps function is to maintain the system pressure above the start-up pressure of the main pump/s.
Depending on the control panel, you may need to over-ride the low pressure start sequence and operate the main pump manually, also monitor the main pumps so as not to operate at "shut-head" once the system is filled.
