monkeydog,
i have added the link into my bookmarks, along with all the other links which i classify as "worthless"   hehehhe

I am after actual casting info.
what procedures need to be followed, eg, actual pouring temps, what fluxes or covers are needed, precautions to avoid gas pickup or loss of alloys, etc.

You can contact SFSA for technical help. Also AFS has a wing on Investment casting. This is advised as you are seeking complete knowhow to invest cast 17/4PH castings.

Thankyou arumrao!

RE: casting of 17/4PH

I've had parts investment cast in 17/4PH.  They were done somewhere in South Africa, but I've lost the contact info.

RE: casting of 17/4PH

17-4 is a common casting material. The alloy supplier can give the standard practices.

Try talking to Carpenter. www.cartech.com. They are usually very helpful (and they have a lot of guideline documents online).

RE: casting of 17/4PH

Try contacting Dr. Russ Rosmait at Pittsburg State University. They do a lot of investment casting research. www.pittstate.edu
