Can someone please show me how to calculate the volumetric flow of air at 6.6bar and 20degC through a 1/4" stainless tube, 20ft long discharging into a volume which is at 8kPa.
What is the formula?

Thnks,

Look at Crane Technical paper 410.
It has examples that will help you calculate it yourself.
By the way.  It is not free.  You can buy it from Crane valves.

But every "old Guy" in the office probably has one on his bookshelf.  It's a fundamental document of the engineering art.  NOW, it comes on a CD-rom.

RE: calculate air flow in stainless steel tube

hello clueless69,

it is a common calculation in some fields, so if you have a mechanical or chemical engineer friend it is the best way to solve the problem. you can also look at Perry's handbook.
by the way do you have a pressure regulator on the line?
