Help requested, body operation (cut), manifold error message

Help requested, body operation (cut), manifold error message

Help requested, body operation (cut), manifold error message

(OP)

Hi

I am building a model in preparation for meshing. The model is an auto chassis and 2 wheels (symmetry plane based). For whatever reason, when I build a solid tunnel around the chassis/wheels (wind tunnel model), and execute a 'create, body operation, cut material, generate', I get an error "Operation would result in non-manifold bodies."

The strange thing is, I can execute the body operation (cut) if I select any one of the 3 objects (chassis, front wheel, rear wheel) independently with no error. That is, there is some problem introduced when I select all 3 for the operation. These parts do not intersect each other, but they do each intersect a wall (wheels intersect the floor, chassis intersects the sym wall). I have used this method for other models without any error, and have no idea as to what is causing this. Any ideas are appreciated.

Regards,

After a lot of trial and error, it turned out to be a bug in Solidworks on export. Not sure why the manifold error was generated, but such is life...
