How to figure the pressure needed to grease a sleeve bearing
How to figure the pressure needed to grease a sleeve bearing
(OP)
My chief and I are at odds on the pressure needed to push grease into a sleeve bearing on a 40 MGD bar screen drive shaft. The drive shaft is 4 5/8" S.S. 6' long and the sleeve bearings are bronze.
The are using auto lubers, that only put out max 100 psi.
I do not feel it can push the grease in. please help, Joe.

RE: How to figure the pressure needed to grease a sleeve bearing
If you want to figure the pressure required to push the grease in, figure the loads on the bearing and the direction, if the shaft is pushing in the direction of the zerk then the load over the area gives the pressure, which pressure is greater gives the result.
