ANSYS LS-DYNA

ANSYS LS-DYNA

ANSYS LS-DYNA

(OP)
Hi,
I'm a new user of ANSYS LS_DYNA, I'm trying to model a hammer impact in the surface of steel sample. I do not use the GUI of  ANSYS, I prefer to write a scipt that I load it in ANSYS for execution. No error message comes out in the end of the simulation, but the results are not available. Could someone help me to understand what is wrong with my program?
Thankd.

RE: ANSYS LS-DYNA

I've never used the LS DYNA option within Ansys but have you setup the solution information correctly?  Executed the solve command?  Does it generate a result file?  Are you entering the proper postprocessor to view these results?  Just some no brainer stuff to check first.

Thank you Brian for the information,
I'm used to write a scipt in Notes pad, which I excute in ansys, and I do the same this time with ansys ls-dyna, in my script I always follow the same steps, /PREP7,/SOLU(finished with SOLVE command), than /POST1 to view my results (strains according to x, y, z directions), in the end of the simulation a result file is generated, but a warning tells me that EPTO data is not available.
Lyes.

RE: ANSYS LS-DYNA

Lyes, have you asked Ansys to output strain data for each step/substep to the results file?  Can you view displacements?  It sounds like there may have been a glitch and that data was not output to the results file.

I used the OUTRES command (OUTRES,,1) to get results for every substep in the RST file, but I didn't view any displacements, nor results are available!!! could it be a probelem of ANSYS LS-DYNA version or licence? I'm using :
Simulation Environment: ANSYS
Licence: ANSYS Structural/LS-DYNA
ANSYS 9.0

RE: ANSYS LS-DYNA

Lyes, I'm not certain.  The only advice I can offer would be to callout OUTRES,ALL,ALL explicitly.  Your OUTRES,,1 really means the same thing but perhaps DYNA is missing something.  The best thing to do would be to get some advice from Ansys on the matter.  Give your ASD or someone a call who is knowledgable.

Good luck!

Thank you Brian for your help, I'll try your advice, otherwise, I'll use the GUI, it's less flexible, but it should give me results.
Thank you.
Lyes.
