Pressure Ratings
(OP)
Which NFPA Standards guides for Pressure Rating of piping components viz. OS&Y Valves, Strainers, NRV, Piping.
- For a Fire Pump Station, Fire Pumps selected is of 1000 GPM at 12 Bar pressure to achieve 6-7 bar pressure at the remotest hydrant.
- Can anybody tells me if I can use 175 psi Valves & piping components. Will 125 lb std. flange bolt hole drilling per ASME/ANSI B16.1 ok with the system.

RE: Pressure Ratings
If you exceed the 175 PSIG pressure rating for sprinkler systems you are required to install a pressure reducing valve.
I don't have ASME B16.1. For flanges designed to B16.5 they work at pressures up to 285 PSIG at 68F.
RE: Pressure Ratings
You also have the option to use high pressure fittings and hp sprinklers when pressure exceeds 175 psi. I believe you simply have to use fittings / devices that are compatible with the water supply. You are limited to a max of 350 psi in standpipe systems.
RE: Pressure Ratings
You are correct. I forgot about that little provision in NFPA 13.
Thanks for making the answer more accurate.
