"Super" Global Variables ?

"Super" Global Variables ?

"Super" Global Variables ?

(OP)
I have a Pillow Block Assy which consists of a Pillow Block Housing and a Bronze Bushing Insert.

I would like to have Outside Diameter of Insert and Inside Diameter of Housing - two Different parts !! - somehow linked from some place (Assy ??) by some "Super Global Variable", so when I modify that "Super Global Variable"  both diameters in both parts would change accordingly.

Any hints ??

Forgot to add: SW2006

I guess I figured that out myself.

On the assy I made all Annotations , dimensions of parts visible. To do that I opened the tree of each part and made the above visible.

Once they are visible I simply added (on assy) equations between dimensions.

I also have a feeling this may work by having a Design Table in Assy ?? Will have to experiment a bit.

Any comments/suggestions ?

(I know it's Sunday morning but there is gotta be some folks out of bed already  smile smile  )

RE: "Super" Global Variables ?

You could also use a "skeleton" sketch in the assembly and drive the ID and OD sketches on the parts in-context from that "skeleton".

Oh no..., "Summary of Design Table Parameters" sub-section
"Dimensions in Configurations" says:

"You can not control the dimensions of a component contained in the assembly" ...  sad

RE: "Super" Global Variables ?

You cannot drive or control a part from an assembly DT, but as Handleman points out, you can control it via an assembly Skeleton or Layout Sketch.
