Hyperterminal - 232c unit - AB PLC

Hyperterminal - 232c unit - AB PLC

(OP)
I am trying to see if the 232c unit (used for devicener to serial interface) works. So I have used it as an interface between a AB PLC and a PC (hyperterminal). Now I have checked the baud rate, parity , stop bits of the serial port on the interface through the RS Networx for devicenet. I have also made sure that the same data rate has been applied to the COM1 port on the PC.

So when I send a data from the PLC (the program rooutine on the RSLogix uses MSG instruction) thrpugh the 232c unit to the hyperterminal I should be able to see the data on the hyperterminal window.

But I am having problems with it. Any ideas?

RE: Hyperterminal - 232c unit - AB PLC

I have no experience with your AB.  I would try looping back the TX to the RX at your PLC end and make sure your hyperterminal is really working as you expect.

You can also go here and download MTTTY a much better hyperterminal-like program.

You may need a NULL modem adaptor or cable, it just swaps pins 2 and 3.
