I have heard that the original nastran fortran code is freeware and is available.  Does anybody have the link? or know the name of the original code?

Cosmic nastran and was developed by nasa and it seems that its too late to get a freebie.

the original code can sometimes be found in copies of old books, but it has no practical use for todays problems.
the code is too slow, and can't handle any real life model.
