Life expectancy of refractory

Life expectancy of refractory

(OP)
Is there a good way to estimate the life of a refractory lining for insulation of a hydroprocessing reactor given inspection data and refractory specifications, and assuming operating conditions do not worsen?

RE: Life expectancy of refractory

The only method I know to evaluate refractory condition on stream is through thermographs. By temperature isothermals you can extrapolate the inner refractory lining condition. Higher temperatures mean damage or crack in the inner lining of your reactor.

RE: Life expectancy of refractory

Trending of actual inspection data from past overhaul cycles. This is the best method.
