Mates not coming with linear pattern???

Mates not coming with linear pattern???

Mates not coming with linear pattern???

(OP)
Hello,
I have an assembly that uses a linear pattern of parts.  This pattern has about 24 instances each consisting of 6 parts.  Each of the 6 parts in the "seed" have 3 mates for a total of 18 mates in the "seed" for the pattern.  Now, the problem is that when I make the pattern, the mates do not seem to come with.  I hope I do not have to add the mates to each one, as that would be 432 (24 x 18) mates.  Please tell me there is another proper way to do this.  I did consider just box selecting all of the components and "fixing" them but this seems like a band-aid rather than proper modeling technique.

They don't need mates.  Their position relative to each other is fixed by the relative positions of the seed instances.

That is correct, however I have 12 different configurations and each configuration has a different # of instances of the pattern.  If I grab one of the 6 "seed" components, the same components on each of the instances for that configuration move together with the seed.  This happens even though the "seed" was mated in the 1st configuration.  Even the mates for the "seed" do not come with.  Their positions relative to each other however remain intact.

It sounds like the mates are supressed in the configs. Check that ALL mates are resolved for ALL configs.

cheers

CorBlimeyLimey - Thanks, that was the problem.  Mates were being suppressed.

Check each configurations properties. There are 3 checkboxes that tell the config what to do when new components and mates are added to another config. I never have the one to suppress mates and feature checked. If you suppress a component...there is no need to also suppress its mates...they just go inactive.

Gildashard - You are correct also.  I did have the boxes checkmarked as well.  Everything is now working great.  Thanks.
