Copper faced earth lug

Copper faced earth lug

Copper faced earth lug

(OP)
We have to weld grounding lugs on our package skids. Usually we weld a small stainless steel pad in the corners for the customer to ground to. We have been asked to supply a copper faced ground.

We would rather not go to a plating company as we have such a small quantity of pieces. Does anyone have a commercial source for a steel grounding lug that is copper faced?

Thanks in advance.

Why copper?

Don't know. As in most spec work someone in the past wrote it into a spec and that spec becomes self substaining whether it makes any sense and they want to follow it.

I think you are doomed if you can't bolt instead of weld.  As you could just bolt on a copper pad. Maybe these days that might cost a fortune anyway. :(

Plating really isn't that expensive. I would just make your grounding pad a little longer.  Make it out of regular steel. Send them to the plating shop and have them just plate the end around the bolt hole.  Then include the unplated part in your painting of the rest of the skid.  You would probably save money over the price of the stainless. (unless this plate is really small).
