Rigid plastics or carbon fiber?
Rigid plastics or carbon fiber?
(OP)
I'm trying to engineer a frame consisting of very small (3mm wide X 3mm deep) sides. The asembled frame will be wrapped in clear mylar film that will be heat shrunk to a moderate tension. Frames will be 500mm x 400mm.
Looking for suggestions on the material to use for the frame pieces. In other words, what is the most rigid material (plastic/carbon fiber/etc) I can use that won't bend under mylar tension at a max length of 500mm??
Thanks!

RE: Rigid plastics or carbon fiber?
Do you have any idea as to how strong and stiff of a material you need?
Basically I need way more information to give any reasonable information/advice.
RE: Rigid plastics or carbon fiber?
Thanks for replying. This material needs to have a modulus approximate to aluminum (which CFP does). Thanks!
