You are not gonna belive this ..
(OP)
Windows XP SW2006 SP0 MS Office 2003
I need to modify some dwgs that were made by outside design house. Drawings have Excel based BOM. Due to Beam substitution I need to change the length of the gusset. No problem with the model, but somehow I seem to be unable to change the Excel BOM Cell which has that particular gusset dimension.
I did click on the BOM then Edit – the Excel sheet (BOM) opens up. Than I select the whole Excel sheet by clicking in the very top left corner. The sheet changes color, so it has been selected. Now I go to Excel Format Cells and than to the tab Protection and then I clear the box Locked. (it was checked)
After that I can modify the particular Excel Cell and exit from BOM, BUT when I hit CTRL-Q the writing in that cell returns to the previous value.
So I save the file with the correct number without clicking CTRL-Q in the cell and than if I click CTRL-Q, the wrong number shows up again. So I exit Solid Works WITHOUT saving anything.
The next time I fire up the Solid Works and open that file and the Excel BOM gets wrong dim in the cell again even without doing anything - just open the file from SW.
This drives me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.
