inserting iso view into drawing

inserting iso view into drawing

inserting iso view into drawing

(OP)
i apologize for the simplistic nature of this question, but......

i am attempting to insert an isometric view of an object drawn in viewpoint 1, -1, 1 into another autocad drawing that is in typical 2-D viewpoint.  every way that i have tried to copy and paste it changes the ucs of the isometric drawing into the ucs of the other drawing, thusly flattening my iso drawing into a 2-D view.  any help on how i can paste this iso view into the other drawing would e greatly appreciated.  thanks.

RE: inserting iso view into drawing

Is the "2d" drawing a new (empty) drawing?  If so, before adding the Iso block, set up the UCS in the new (2d) drawing to the same of the iso drawing (1,-1,1).

If you are inserting the iso into a drawing with existing entities, try going the other way.  Open the iso drawing.  Set the UCS to "view" and then insert the 2d objects.  They should appear flat against the "view" UCS.

Good Luck

RE: inserting iso view into drawing

Thanks!  The suggestion about reversing the process worked.  Hit a brick wall on my 2nd day at the new job.  Thanks for the input!
