Unsaturated soil group and discussion

Hi all,
Is anybody from unsaturated soil group. I have been involved in this group for long time.
Lets make discussion on it.

Hi....Currently I am doing vapor equilibrium technique for applying suction to soils.

Does anybody know solutions to be used and their ranges of suction applied?

Thanks so much....!!!

Discussion on other topics is welcome.

RE: Unsaturated soil group and discussion

hi friend,
first of all let me know that why you want to measure osmotic suction because not at all use of osmotic suction is required in the field of geotechnical engineering...... and one more thing... if you want to make vapour to equilibriate which method/ instrument you are adopting ...... psychrometer??  TRL suction probe what... so please make it clear than further we will discuss

I do not need to measure the osmotic suction at all. What I am going to do is to apply suction (i.e., total suction) by using the vapour equilibrium technique. To confirm the magnitude of the suction applied an accurate relative humidity sensor with temperature measurement will be used. Thus, there is nothing to do with the measurement. It is just a problem with various solution to be used to induce suction. Till now, I only know couple of them such as NaCl, LiCl, H2SO4 (acidic).
