Plug Valve for Low Temperature

Plug Valve for Low Temperature

Plug Valve for Low Temperature

(OP)
Hi All:

I am looking for a plug valve for low temperature service.  The process liquid is ammonia.  The temperature is -28°F (-33 °C).  The valve is a 2", 1500#, full port and butt weld connection.  If you know of any manufacturers, please let me know. Thank you.

RE: Plug Valve for Low Temperature

I don't have any hands on experience with such valves but have seen, material wise, the following specifed A350 LF2 (<2")or A352 LCB (>=2") bodies, 316 ss plugs, with teflon sleves.

No offense meant.

If you do not normally purchase valves for your company, might I suggest you talk to the person (probably someone in I&C) who normally does.

There are many valve manufacturers out there, and most are good. But that is not the point. Chances are, your plant already has a type of low temp plug valve that they "standardise" on, or have in place a SOC (supplier of choice) where they get discounts. The valve you describe is nothing extraordinary. It should be easily obtainable.
