Any tricks for creating cosmetic thread on thread-forming screw?

Any tricks for creating cosmetic thread on thread-forming screw?

Any tricks for creating cosmetic thread on thread-forming screw?

(OP)
I'm trying to add cosmetic threads to a thread forming screw, but I've only been able to have them show up on the leading taper.  Anybody know a way to have it depicted for the length of the screw?

Thanks!

Tim

Select diameter surface, Insert/Annotations/Cosmetic Thread

So the threaded portion is tapered then parallel? If so I dont think the cosmetic thread can follow that form. It's either tapered or straight ... not both.

You might be able to "cheat" and create a surface at the minor dia of the threaded portion, then change the line formats in the drawing views.

I'm not so much worried about any drawing views, but I was hoping to have the screw distinguished from a straight machine screw in appearance.  Guess I'll just have to remove the cosmetic thread portion of it.

Thanks!

Using a thread texture on the surface will help differentiate between screws ... or assigning a special colour will also help.

Great idea - I hadn't thought of those methods.
