Using dessicant when shipping from China
Using dessicant when shipping from China
(OP)
I am importing a consumer product (food cooler w/basic electronics--speaker/amplifier)from China. The packaging consists of polybag on product and double-wall corrugate. My question is should I worry about the humidty affecting the electronics if the entire product will be in a poly bag and the electronics are inside the plastic cooler?
What percent humidty internally does a sea container experience? Would a dessicant be needed?

RE: Using dessicant when shipping from China
Their are numerous types of sea containers but what you're most likely after is the dry cell type. These containers have very good door seals and usually get a plastic curtain. But if you have spent anytime around large cargo ports, APL in Oakland, CA or Long Beach. Those containers get handled like fine china. I've seen containers come off vessels with huge holes in the side. I say take care all your environmentals in your packaging.
