RE: model solidification process

Hi sheriff

You may struggle using ABAQUS to do this - I couldn't find any examples in the docs for this type of analysis.  I've never used them myself, but you can define materials using VUMAT and UMAT....

You may be better advised to look for packages that specialise in modelling flow & solidification of molten metals, maybe in the casting & forging industry - Magmasoft is a code that seems very active in that area.

It'd be interesting to see any responses from people who have done this sort of work with ABAQUS tho' smile

Regards

Martin

RE: model solidification process

There is a benchmark problem in the documentation that might help you:
ABAQUS Benchmarks Manual (version 6.4)
->1.6.2 Freezing of a square solid
