ACQ lumber and bright nails

ACQ lumber and bright nails

ACQ lumber and bright nails

(OP)
I'm looking at a residential structure where the contractor used a few ACQ treated 2x8's for joists in an interior application. (He did this because the treated lumber was immediately at hand, rather than getting more untreated 2x8's to finish that run of joists.) Naturally, all the fasteners are the same regular uncoated nails that were used everywhere else.
I think everybody is at least a little familiar with the need for corrosion protection on fasteners in ACQ, so my gut reaction was that this is no good. The contractor's position is that the nails and hangers are fine since nothing will ever get wet, and it is the water that drives the corrosion. I'm not familiar enough with the chemistry to know if this is good sense or BS. What do you guys think?
