sheet pile wall with sloping dedge line away from wall

sheet pile wall with sloping dedge line away from wall

(OP)
I'm working with a cantilever sheet pile wall retaining ~7.5' of earth. The dredge line immediately in front of the wall is level and stays level for 17' measured perpendicular to the wall. Beyond 17', the dredge line slopes down at 2.5:1 slope away from the the wall. At this distance from the wall, should I expect a reduction in the passive pressures on the sheet pile wall due to the slope?

TIA,
pokeng

RE: sheet pile wall with sloping dedge line away from wall

If the slope breaks beyond the end of the passive soil wedge, then there shouldn't be any reduction in the passive earth pressure.  For a retained height of 7.5 feet, I would expect that you would not have any reduction, but it will depend on the depth to the sheet pile toe and the friction angle of the soil.
