Data from PLC to SQL tables

Data from PLC to SQL tables

Im looking to get data from a PLC and send it to a database in sql. I'll be using an allen bradley PLC5 80C type controller.
Is all the work for this on the sql side or does the PLC have much to do other than present the information ?

RE: Data from PLC to SQL tables

In my past experiences using a PLC5/40 and an Access database application, the PLC only needed to present the data in a file such as N7.  All the work was done on the Access side.

Tanx for the feedbak, i need to know specifically how to set up the sql side of it. Whats needed to communicate between both ? do they route through rslinx protocol.
Has anyone got a simple example i could see, this would be extremely helpful.

RE: Data from PLC to SQL tables

Rockwell Automation (A-B) makes some software call RsSQL. You might look into it. It is designed to do what you are asking for.
