6063-T5 versus 6063-T52

6063-T5 versus 6063-T52

(OP)
Is there a difference between 6063-T5 & 6063-T52 Aluminum?

A supplier lists their 1"x3" Tube as 6063-T52, but I can't find that alloy on www.matweb.com.

I'm assuming that the "2" in the "T52" is just another minor designation or maybe a propriatary number?

If not, what does the "2" represent?

thanks!

Jason

RE: 6063-T5 versus 6063-T52

The suffix 2 after a T5 temper treatment refers to stress relief of the aluminum alloy by compression (achieving a 1-3% set) after a solution heat treatment or cooling from elevated temperature shaping process*.

The T5 designation refers to cooling the aluminum alloy from an elevated temperature shaping process and artificially aged.
