Sheetpile Compatibility - Design Life

(OP)
Does anybody know of any literature relating soil and groundwater contaminants to sheetpile design life (i.e. corrosion).  I have read various articles relating soil ph to design life, but do not know the ph values of the soil at this particular site.  Short of going out and taking soil samples, is there anyway to estimate the ph from the specific contaminants (e.g. PCB's), or soil descriptions?
